Some existing Verizon Wireless subscribers are reporting that they’ve received an email offer direct from the carrier offering a 450 minute monthly plan with unlimited text and data. This offering would match (except for the unlimited mobile to any mobile – the Verizon plan only allows VZW to VZW mobile unlimited) that which has been offered by Sprint on their Everything Data. According to members in the Fatwallet deal forum – some users have had luck getting the plan added and others have been told they don’t qualify. This may be a geographically specific plan or there may be other unpublished restrictions making certain users ineligible. At these prices it’s worth the call to Verizon to see if you qualify. The deal states that you must extend your contact by one year in order to swap to the plan.

The BlackBerry 9330 first dropped to $199 on the BoostMobile site sometime around the beginning of July 2010. Presently Best Buy has it on sale for $189. Now Radio Shack jumps in with what appears to be regular pricing of $149. While the BlackBerry Curve 8330 is several versions back in terms of technology — lacking Wi-Fi for example — it’s an adequate choice for someone whose needs are texting and emailing.

This is a CDMA power BlackBerry running on no-contract carrier BoostMobile. Your monthly fee of $60 provides unlimited talk, text, web and email. Cancel anytime with no ETF. The underlying provider of the Boost signal is Sprint (who also owns Boost Mobile).

Not a bad choice as a starter smartphone for those on a budget, averse to monthly cell phone contracts or parents with kids wanting to use a BlackBerry as their first phone. Be aware that BlackBerry has several models that look similar and this is one of the basic ones (lacking Wi-Fi for instance).

Amazon has the Garmin Nuvifone G60 listed as only $199 WITHOUT contract. The price is cheaper most other single purpose GPS devices that Amazon sells – and the Nuvifone  includes a cell phone. This is quite possibly the last gasp for this model with the inclusion of free Google Maps turn-by-turn directions on far superior Android phones driving a stake though single purpose smartphones such as this. The device  launched in October 2009 for an eye popping $300 on contract and was widely panned as too expensive for a GPS/phone. The price soon sank as third party retailers such as Amazon picked it up. The on-contract price is now FREE at Amazon (you’ll pay $99 after $100 MIR at ATT Wireless). For $199 without  contract this might make a great Mother’s Day present.

No contract! No early termination fee….and of course there’s no discount from AT&T. That’s why this refurbished 8 GB iPhone 3G (a slightly older model than the current iPhone 3GS) is available for only $379. This is a good deal for anyone already under contract or ineligible for an upgrade discount who wants to upgrade to an iPhone. Amazon has finally come down to earth with their pricing on the BlackBerry Bold 9000 – White. After having offered it for over $400 in the days leading up to the holidays they’ve now lowered the price to free after 2 year new service agreement. This is lower by $99 than the ATT Wireless web site. Worth noting that the Bold (White) does nothing that the prior Bold doesn’t – so it’s simply another color option. In almost all instances I’d recommend the BlackBerry 9700 as the better choice due to more RAM and higher resolution camera.
