Christmas has come early for the folks at Geardiary and there’s 17 different reviews posted simultaneously. Judie Lipsett has outfitted her elves with Scottevest gear (complete with logo) and they’ve all posted their thoughts about the gear.

If you haven’t purchased Scottevest clothing before it’s specially designed jackets, vests and pants loaded with extra pockets to hold gear. The clothing costs just a little more than what you’d pay for the same “un-pocketed” item but the finish is top notch. I’ve bought four separate Scottevest jackets – as well as the one that Judie was kind enough to send me. And as I noted in the post at Geardiary, my favorite thing to do with Scottevest is wear it while traveling. The extra pockets make navigating airport security a breeze and in a pinch you can carry heavier items in the coat pockets instead of checking them through with your baggage.

Here’s your solution Primula 10 cup speak n’ brew is the world’s first talking coffeemaker. There is a chip inside that understands your speech. It is used to set the clock or to program the brew time. It also works manually instead of using the talk feature. Just 2 simple steps; press talk, listen and speak. Speak n’ brew asks you when you would like your coffee ready. Simply say the time. Speak n’ brew answers confirming the time and shows in the display.

Is someone in your home or office always cold? The two choices you have are to (a) throw more heat at the problem (turn up the thermostat) or (b) find the source of the draft. This Black & Decker TLD100 finds thermal leaks fast. Hold it in your hand as you point it at suspect areas. Uses infrared sensors to measure surface temperatures. Simply set the detector’s temperature tolerances to one, five, or 10 degrees and scan the light across the area you want to inspect. The light will change to red for warmer spots and blue for cooler spots to detect air leaks in both warm and cool weather. The detector also displays temperatures in either Fahrenheit or Celsius on the LCD screen. Check for drafts or leaks around your fireplace, recessed lighting, electrical outlets, along floor molding, or any place that may have improper seals, caulking, or seams that aren’t immediately visible. An included booklet gives you tips and instructions on how to seal leaks and improve insulation.

Sitting on the couch lamenting that your huge stack of VHS tapes grow more outdated with every passing day? Here’s a very cheap way to feed those VHS tapes into your computer where they’ll be digitized for playback on a variety of modern devices. This VHS tape player, just like a VCR, uses a USB connection so you can connect your computer and take your videos wherever you want them. Included EZ VHS Converter software was designed specifically to make it easy to enjoy your videos on DVD, iPod, PSP, or computer. This is a one day deal expiring 12/17/09.

The entire Flip Mino series of portable video recorders was suppose to be rendered dead and done by the introduction of video on the iPhone (and other smartphones). While smartphone video capabilities might be slowing sales of the Flip Mino they’ve certainly not killed them. One good thing that’s happening is the Flip portable video camera is getting more affordable than ever. If you haven’t used a Flip before you’re in for a treat. The portable camera captures video (the length varies depending on model) and uses a retractable USB connector to upload it to your computer. Holds 60 minutes of HD-quality video (1280 x 720 resolution at 30 frames per second; 16:9 widescreen) on 4 GB of built-in memory.

This Radio Shack Pro -107 ($229.99) is aimed squarely at the first time police scanner owner who does not want to fuss with programming in a confusing list of frequencies to their scanner. Using an included SD memory card the unity downloads a complete USA database of frequencies via the popular Radio Reference site. Unfortunately there’s no digital signal capabilities so if your local police or fire have adopted digital (and many have) you won’t be able to listen. Also, if you’re primarily listening from home skip the scanner altogether and review Radio Reference’s extensive list of police and fire broadcasts that can be monitored over the Internet.

* Stores millions of frequencies that can be categorized into 20 playlists
* No programming required to listen to police, fire, aircraft, marine, FRS/GMRS, CB and HAM
* Hear Skywarn severe weather reports from the actual trained observers near your home
* Features S.A.M.E. and does not alarm unless the weather alert is really for your specified area
* Searches for nearby 2-way radio transmissions within approximately 1,000 feet of the radio
* Trunks the vast majority of local analog police/fire/emergency trunked systems
* Includes PC interface for cloning, uploading and downloading
* Band coverage: 25-50MHz VHF-Lo, 50-54MHz 6-meter Ham
* Coverage cont.: 108-136.99166MHz Aircraft, 137-144MHz VHF Government
* Coverage cont.: 144-148MHz 2-meter Ham, 148-174MHz VHF-Hi
* Coverage cont.: 216.0025-221.9975, 222-225MHz VHF, 225.025-405.975MHz Military Aircraft
* Coverage cont.: 406-512MHz, 806-960MHz (excluding wireless phone bands) UHF
* Coverage cont.:1240-1300MHz Ham
