If you’re one of the 612 who purchased the HP TouchPad on August 5 from Woot! for $379 thinking that you got a bargain – only to see HP discontinue the product and firesale remaining inventory at $99 – hang on. According to a message on Woot!’s discussion area from user DennisWKam who is identified as “staff” – Woot! is working with HP for a solution which may include a partial refund.

Several buyers have reportedly sent Woot! emails requesting an update on whether refunds will be offered. As of this morning nobody seems to have received any email reply which seems to indicate Woot! is likely still discussing the issue with HP.

Woot! is a deep discounter of one-deal per day merchandise. They were purchased in June 2010 by online retailer Amazon for a reported $110 million.

The folks over at Tactical Pants Blog (yes there is such a thing) are out with a summary of various clothing options for carrying your iPad2. Unfortunately one of their top choices – Spectrum’s Warrior Wear Pants – have since been discontinued. They plow through a half dozen or so of additional styles of iPad 2 compatible clothing – which let’s be frank is nothing more than a pair of pants or shorts with a big pocket.

Ultimately when you look at the images I think you’ll agree that none of these look like the ideal carrying device for an iPad or iPad 2. For one – sitting is a problem. The second problem is walking. And if you’re standing still – why not just hold the iPad?

Tired of driving from store to store and peering in display cases only to find that they’re bare of any iPad 2 stock? Here’s a handy online inventory checker that someone over at Macrumors has created for checking all the area Target Stores based on providing either your zip code or state.

Access the look page for Target by first selecting the model of the iPad 2 which you are seeking. You’ll probably want to search through various models since not all Targets may be carrying 3G or higher capacity models.

According to forum posts sometimes the status will show as “limited availability” which may mean that a shipment was just received or that someone has returned a previous purchase. If you’ve checked inventory online and it is showing as available then you should inquire at the Target counter (electronics department) because they often have a shipment out back that has not yet been stocked.

Get ready to order your iPad2 this Friday at 12:01 am PT (or you can purchase one in an Apple store at 5pm). There have been some questions about the data plans which you can use with the new iPad 2 WiFi/3G version. AllThingsD compiled the above list which shows the existing plans as well as the new AT&T post paid plan.
Each of these plans is still an off-contract option. AT&T tweaked their data plan so you could elect to be billed after your month was over and that any overages would cost $10 per GB.

Guess when the best time to buy an older version Apple product is? Yes, it’s right after they’ve announced the newer version. Apple will usually put the older models on sale and you can buy either a refurbished or new version for big savings. Are you as confused as I was about Apple’s new 11″ and 13″ MacBook Air computers? I have been eyeing one of these mini MacBooks for quite some time – always telling myself that as soon as they’re refreshed and updated that I’d buy one.

Last week Apple held their “Back To The Mac” event where they introduced two never MacBook Air computers. Unfortunately the two models are relatively close together in terms of capabilities with their prime difference being screen sizes. So until now I was indecisive – that is until I spotted Dan and Thomas’s discussion over at GearDiary. I’d been leaning toward buying the 13″ MacBook Air based on the easier to read larger screen. Their discussion on capabilities and pros and cons of each model made the decision easier. If you’re on the fence – hop over and review their post. Looks as if 1pm EST is just about the magic hour for Apple iPhone upgrades. About 30 minutes ago (at 1pm EST) the new iPhone OS – -iOS 4 – became available for download. This will work on all but the first generation iPhone and the iPad (which will get it’s own update later in the year).
