Colorware is taking orders to pimp out your new BlackBerry Bold 9700 into whatever freakish color you like. The company accepts your BlackBerry and replaces the frame, top, bottom, outer back, inner back and logo with parts that are custom colored to your desire. Their web site allows you to preview your creation before making a final decision. Cost starts at $159 if you send them your BlackBerry Bold 9700 or you can buy a brand new one for $849 (sucker bet since you can buy a no-contract device for $399-$449 in any AT&T or T-Mobile store and then send it in for $159 which nets a price about $250 cheaper than buying a new unit from Colorware).

When I bought my T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700 I had one heck of a time getting the battery door off. This seemingly simple task was tough to figure out (and I didn’t notice any special instructions on how to do it). The difficulty in removing the BlackBerry 9700 cover is a change from most RIM BlackBerry doors which in the past tend to either be loose or secured by obvious latches which allow them to pop right off. There’s apparently a trick (the first time I used my fingernails to pry it). Instead you should turn the BlackBerry 9700 (Bold 2) over and use light thumb pressure in the middle of the lower 1/3 of the batter door to gently push downward. Watch the video to learn how.
