Sim Card Is Already Active On A Subscription (Explained) – Verizon New iPad
There are a fewer purchasers of the new iPad with 4G LTE from Verizon who’ve received a somewhat cryptic error message “SIM card is already active on a subscription ” when they try to manage their data connection from the iPad.
To make a long story short – the most likely explanation is that you’ve been setup by either Verizon or Best Buy at point of purchase with a recurring data plan (aka post paid) which cannot be managed on your iPad. There is likely also a $35 activation fee which there should not be (see Verizon’s iPad prepaid data page).
According to multiple helpful forum members – you do NOT have to activate (and / or pay any activation fee) at point of purchase. Decline the activation. When you get home follow these handy instructions to activate the new iPad on Verizon 4G LTE.
