Verizon 160 Character Text Messaging SMS Limit – Gone

I very rarely text (SMS). However to your kids some people it’s their life and main way of communication.  On  Howardforums this morning I noticed a sense of excitement at what seems to be a new way  Verizon treats  lengthy text messages. Under the old method users were limited to 160 characters in their SMS text messages (unless they sent the message to another Verizon user). Any characters over 160 were discarded. Now Verizon has changed their text messaging system so that if you send a message exceeding 160 characters it will be broken up and sent as multiple messages. What the heck will they think of next?
