New Verizon Wireless Plans Might Make 2010 The Year of Unlimited Cell Calling
Today’s the day that both Verizon Wireless and AT&T unleash new lower cost unlimited calling plans on cell phone users. Verizon’s new $69 unlimited calling plan is a $30 reduction from their prior $99 unlimited voice plan cost. Family plans have similarly been reduced. What used to cost $229 per month for unlimited voice has been slashed to $149. Why the sudden change of heart on pricing? Look closely and you’ll see that the data prices remain little changed (they removed a tier) but suddenly more of their phones require the purchase of at least a $9.99 per month (that’s $120 per year) data plan. Take a trip into any Verizon store and try to find a phone these days that doesn’t require a data plan. It’s a daunting task and one reason that Verizon’s reduction in monthly voice prices is largely made up for by the data and SMS text messaging fees that it charges as add-ons.
This reduction in confusing pricing schemes is bound to be good news for many subscribers. Now let’s get to work on the overpriced text and data fees so that a monthly bill for cell service with data and text can be under $60!
