Amazon iPad Page – Coming Soon

Sure the iPad (what an odd choice of naming positioning it so close to a women’s hygiene category “and introducing the Macs-iPad”) seems like mostly a big iPod Touch. Gratefully though there’s a few things that nobody has yet discussed. First, the 3G (cellular data) version can be purchased with no contract. Lets hope that’s a trend which continues for cellular data connected devices. Secondly, the data services themselves can be activated and discarded at will. There’s no penalty for terminating the monthly plans (either $15 for 25 mb or $29 for “unlimited”). Amazon has just created their landing page for the iPad. You can’t order from this page yet (ordering starts in March) but it promises to notify you when you can. Unlike the iPhone, you’ll be able to buy the 3G equipped iPad directly from Amazon instead of having to go into a carrier store.
