Live Streaming Video Comes to iPhone OS 3.1+
In what will almost certainly be the first of many new approvals the one rejected and now approved Knocking Live Video becomes the first to stream over 3G or Wi-Fi. According to various media reports Apple Head Honcho Steve Jobs intervened directly to reverse an earlier decision not to allow the streaming video application into the App Store. While this reversal may seem trivial it almost certainly will mark an opening through which other applications will now be re-considered for inclusion into the App Store.
This application only streams from iPhone to iPhone though it will only be a matter of time until streaming to the web will likely be allowed. Previously real-time streaming video was rejected for popular video application Qik which had to make do with uploading video after it’d been taken. Watch the App Store as I expect you will see a flood of new functionality approved and soon appearing online.
