Google Nexus One Rumor – $530 Outright – Look On Shocked Fanboy Faces – Priceless

Gizmodo has posted a screen shot that’s either a convincing fake or a mock up of the Google Nexus One Android phone order  page. For  those who thought Google was going to give away the phones by relying on an easily wiped advertising based ROM – I’ve got a bridge that you may be interested in buying as well. According to sources  Gizmodo seems to trust, you’ll be looking at $530 for the unlocked Google Nexus One (by comparison Amazon offers the Verizon Droid Eris contract free at $419 and Droid at $530 – albeit both would be locked to the Verizon network). Add in a contract with T-Mobile and you’ll be seeing a more reasonable $180. What you won’t be seeing is some hair brained advertising scheme where the phone is given away for free so that thousands of opportunists can snap up a phone , wipe the ROM and re-sell it at a fat profit. Hold onto your hats though because Google has a January 5, 2010 media event where more surprises may be unleashed. PS – Last I was aware T-Mobile forced the purchase of an Android data plan that was required to run any Android device and there was not an easy way around that.
