Droid Eris – $9.99 at Amazon

verizon droid eris smartphone

The Droid Eris has recently appeared on Amazon with a new price. Formerly $99 with 2 year contract the new price is $9.99. This smartphone is an HTC Hero (similar to the Sprint Hero) which was released by Verizon on November 6, 2009. While it’s still running Android 1.5 there are active rumors that it’s in line for an upgrade to Android 2.x sometime in 2010. While slightly slower than the Motorola Droid, the Eris includes the HTC Sense UI which features the pinch / zoom capabilities within the browser as well as HTC’s full set of Android widgets that help customize the interface.
