Muffled speech on the Droid? Forum participant suggests changing the Vocode

droid speech quality

Do you have a Droid phone and have people you call told you that your voice sounds muffled and a little distorted? User Soobs on the Motorola Droid forum has this unofficial tip to change your Voice Encoder to a newer protocol.

Several people on the Motorola Droid  forum claim this has greatly improved their speech quality to other people. I tried it on my Droid and it does nothing for my main problem of hearing incoming callers voices muffled. If however people are telling you that YOU sound muffled on the Droid – this might be worth a shot. Just don’t mess around with any other settings in this hidden programming menu or you may face having to explain to the 17 year old Verizon tech how you bricked your new Droid.

Change Droid Vocoder to EVRC-B (Use at your own risk)
