PSST. Yeah, you. Come over here. Can I let you in on two of my favorite cell phone secrets? These two secrets let you turn the tables on the carriers and they both involve using a prepaid phone to do it.  First, buy this T-Mobile T349 is on sale for $49 at Best Buy sans contract (normal price is $89). That’s not the secret though. What most people don’t realize is  you can use this prepaid phone on a regular T-Mobile account (aka post paid) to replace a broken phone – as well as on prepaid.

The two tricks:

• Buy this no contract phone to replace a broken T-Mobile phone as opposed to renewing a contract (AT&T prepaid phones also make good low cost replacements phones and both work on either prepaid or post-paid accounts)
• Buy this phone for a parent or relative that rarely uses a cell but wants one for security. If you purchase $100 worth of minutes (aka T-Mobile Gold Rewards) they won’t expire for a full year. That’s a little over $8 per month for cell phone service.
