New Amazon Wireless “beta” site offers AT&T and Verizon phones rebate free with clearer upgrade options

Amazon is rolling out a new beta version of their wireless phone site. The new feature seems to currently apply to AT&T and Verizon phones. You can either upgrade or purchase a new line of service. Sales of non-contract phones are not presently supported. Phones from carriers other than AT&T or Verizon are not presently on the site either.

This looks like primarily a cleaner interface and some housekeeping to remove old obsolete phones that used to show in Amazon cell phone searches. There appears to be a new carrier wide policy of not requiring purchasers to file rebates. I was unable to find any rebate requirements for the top 10 phones that Amazon sells from any carrier.

In the past I believe LetsTalk had serviced the Amazon cellular store. It's unknown whether the beta Amazon Wireless site signifies that Amazon is now bringing this in house or whether they are just cleaning up the overall user interface.
