Facebook Credits Available Soon At Target

Starting on Sunday you’ll be able to feed your Facebook crops by using credits that you purchase in a Target store. This is similar in concept to how you can purchase iTunes cards at most retail outlets. The cards can initially be used on more than 150 social games and applications, including Zynga (FarmVille, FrontierVille), CrowdStar (Happy Aquarium, HelloCity) and PopCap Games (Bejeweled Blitz). Facebook gift cards do not replace Zynga’s existing game cards.

According to a story in today’s USA Today the cards will be available in values of $15, $25 and $50 at all of Target’s 1,750 retail stores and at Target.com. Two or three more national retailers will start selling the cards in coming months. This will be a great solution for those who prefer not to give their credit information to Facebook or parents looking to gift credits to their kids.

BlackBerry 950 or 957 – free with 1 year email only service – $100

Here’s a trip down memory lane. Remember the original BlackBerry devices before they became phones? The BlackBerry 950 and 957 seemed to run for months on a AA battery and would receive signals from the darkest corners of your basement office. If you can live without an integrated phone (which means no SMS or MMS messaging or web browsing ) and you’re looking for an inexpensive email solution – check out this offer from Velocita Wireless (formerly Mobitex). You can obtain a free BlackBerry 950 or 957 with one year of free prepaid email messaging for only $100.

This device is older technology so I’m not certain whether it’s going to integration with your Gmail/Yahoo/Hotmail account or if you’ll have to adopt a new email address linked to the device.

Boost Mobile Daily Unlimited Coming Soon – $2/Day

Scanning this morning through the ever helpful Howardforums site I couldn’t help but notice a post asking about a new Boost Mobile $2 daily unlimited offering that was appearing in one subscriber’s account. Sure enough when I checke3d my account it was there too -and just as reported I was unable to switch my contract to the new plan — yet.

If the chatter in the forum is correct – watch for Boost to flip the on switch for this plan around September 13, 2010. Since there are no details (yet) on the Boost site itself – all we can do is hope that the forum information is correct and that this indeed will be an unlimited talk/text/data offering. Boost in the past has offered daily unlimited though only for their iDen walkie talkie and at a price of $1 per day. So far as I’m aware this is the first time they’ve offered $2 per day for unlimited everything and only on the days you use the phone. It’s unknown if there will be any type of service fee to use it – although other Boost plans are light on extra fees so lets hope this one is a pure $2/day.

Is Stumbleupon Aspiring To Be A Dating Site?

Is it just me or do some of these profile questions at online link sharing site Stumbleupon seem more appropriate for an online dating site. In the past I’ve used Stumbleupon to discover interesting new Internet links as shared by other users. These links often showed up well in advance of when they might appear on other more mainstream sites such as Digg.

Recently when I went to update my account I discovered a set of rather personal questions that could be answered to update my profile. For example – if I’m just reading interesting Internet links – do I need to know the smoking preference, religion, relationship and sexuality of those who are doing the sharing?

Seems to me that Stumbleupon is setting themselves up to enter the online matchmaking business. I can’t think of another reason for such personal questions unless of course they’re aspiring to be Facebook copycat site # 1,023,4278.

Droid X Replacement Battery – $13.49

Not getting enough battery life from your Droid X? How about a spare battery. Verizon will charge you $40 – or you can drop into Overstock.com where they’ll be happy to sell you what they claim is an OEM Droid EX — SNN5865A BH5X — replacement battery for $13. Unfortunately as of now it looks like Droid X owners have scooped up the last of the bargains – but it’s worth keeping an eye on the site to see if they come back into stock.

This 1500 mAh Lithium ion battery is specially designed original OEM accessory manufactured by Motorola for the Droid X. This battery gives you a longer battery life in a lighter package, providing good talk and standby time performance.
